"Just had breakfast at Gunter's and ordered their Gunter's Special Omelette. It's absolutely delicious, packed with a lot of meat! Highly recommended! The service is excellent, and the ambiance is good too. Definitely worth a visit!" Susy is a great waitress and very friendly and personable. Great service!
*Big, spacious parking lot with Pacific Market in the same plaza; No need to worry about parking *Simple, traditional 90s vibe American diner I was here on a weekday for brunch around 1pm and while there were many people, there were many tables available. It's a nice, simple, clean, and spacious restaurant. I was immediately seated and offered coffee. I walked if there was anything sweeter since I don't enjoy drinks if it's too bitter and while I don't see hot mocha on the menu, the server suggested it to me. Though not anything special, I did enjoy the hot mocha. I was also told by a regular customer that they have great coffee and to try it next time. I ordered their Cajun eggs benedict and was not disappointed at all! It's a good portion for two meals, it's soft, creamy, runny, and tasty. Gunter's Restaurant is a very traditional American brunch/diner and I look forward to trying more on their menu.
Had a good time at this old school lil diner. Was nice and quiet at around 2pm, and the perfect place to relax while waiting for someone at the hospital (about a 7 minute walk away). Service was friendly and fast. Ordered a coffee (free refills) and a club sandwich with fries. Was so big I had to take half home. Make sure to get the ranch with the fries - or really any dish - 'cause it's that good good restaurant ranch that you just can't get anywhere else
I haven't been back to Gunter for years since I moved out from SSF. We were regulars there for brunch on Sat. The food is typical, but the service is lovely. We were there for Sun lunch after Church with a group of 8, and we all love this place, although their food items are very typical American breakfast/brunch/lunch restaurant. The portion was generous, and their salad were huge (Chef's salad). Service: 4.5 out of 5 (the waitress realized it was such a HOT Sunday and keep coming back to refill our ice-water. Food: 4 of 5 (typical) Ambiance: super friends/family oriented (although it's a bit old in style). It would be nice if there was A/C. Parking: big parking lot in the front Note: very sorry that we didn't take any pictures because we were so hot.
What a find! This is an old-fashioned diner along the Camino Reale. The large, open dining room is flanked on two sides by big padded booths and on the other with a long counter. The service is exceptionally friendly, but the food is really the star; Generous portions from a classic diner menu. And the prices are good. All our dishes were under $20, which is reasonable for California. I ordered the mushroom & spinach omelette with hash browns & an English muffin. (Packed full of fresh veggies!). My dad got a BLT with classic coleslaw and my mom got the Huevos Rancheros. Everything was great.
It had been a while since my last visit when I had breakfast, which was very satisfying. This time, I stopped by for dinner and it was excellent. It was about an hour before closing and the place looked closed from the outside, only a few cars in the dimly lit parking lot. Only one other couple was inside, so it was quiet. The friendly server was very attentive. I ordered the New York Steak that was cooked to perfection. The baked potato and vegetables that came with it didn't disappoint. I'm definitely returning to try other items from their menu.
I've had several solid meals at Gunther's. My wife grew up eating at this diner and has brought me here for brunch and dinner several times in recent years. For brunch, I've had their seafood omelette. It's filled with a generous amount seafood. Pro tip: make sure to ask for a side of minced garlic and put it on top of the omelette. You are welcome. During our last visit, I had the Snapper Monterey from their dinner menu. For sides, I chose rice and soup. On top of that, all dinner dishes come with a side of veggies and garlic bread. The snapper might have been the best thing I've had out of all my visits here. It's lightly battered which gives it a subtle crisp. The fish meat was so flaky and I honestly think its quality and taste is on par with fish from a dedicated seafood restaurant. Lastly as a heads up, they charge 3% for credit cards payments.
